I’ve been thinking a lot lately about a particular movie scene (Men in Black, 1997).

1,500 years ago, everybody knew that the Earth was the center of the universe. 500 years ago, everybody knew that the Earth was flat. And 15 minutes ago, you knew that humans were alone on this planet. Imagine what you’ll know tomorrow. (Agent K)

Not because of the aliens/UFO thing. But because of how some of the things that we believe to be fundamental truths (not mathematics axioms, but almost written in stone) may turn out to be, in the end, ambiguous or directly wrong.

The blog:

This personal blog has been created using Hugo, a static site generator.
The theme it uses is no-style-please, because it’s lightweight, fast and minimalist. And it supports light, dark and auto modes!
I don’t use any analytics solution: No cookies. No tracking. I really don’t care who visits this site.

On AI usage:

I sometimes debug technical issues (like for example … why is the date rendering in a wrong place on posts?) using Claude. For the moment, it is only helpful 50% of the time.
Normally I test if what I’ve written sounds nice/understandable enough in English by asking Claude or Gemini to proofread it (just to be sure), but that’s all - I prefer my rickety English to having a bot generate (even if partially) neat but soulless text … What’s the point of writing a blog if you delegate the content creation?

The domain name of this blog - hicsuntdracones - makes reference to what old cartographers used to write on uncharted, potentially dangerous areas of maps. It reminds me about the nature of life - no maps, no certainty.
And yes, as you may have noticed, my mother tongue is not English. So please expect mistakes and weird language constructions. Deal with it.
